How to compare wedding venue packages
VenueGuide.au recommends comparing wedding venue packages line by line. The cheapest package is not always the simplest, and the most expensive one may still exclude styling, AV or staffing.
Separate price from inclusions
A package comparison should show what each venue includes, excludes and charges separately. Couples should avoid comparing headline prices without the detail underneath.
- Food, drinks, staffing, security, furniture and AV should be listed separately.
- Minimum spend and room hire should be compared against the guest list.
- Supplier restrictions should be known before booking.
Read the booking terms before the deposit
The ACCC says transparency is one factor courts consider when assessing unfair contract terms. Couples should look for clear, plain-language booking terms.
- What happens if the couple postpones?
- What happens if the venue cannot provide the agreed space?
- What costs are retained, refunded or transferred?
Compare the operational support
The best venue package is often the one that reduces wedding-day friction. Ask who coordinates suppliers, floor-plan changes, run sheets and guest arrivals.
- Is a coordinator included, and what do they actually handle?
- Who manages ceremony-to-reception movement?
- How are dietary requirements, accessibility needs and late changes handled?
